The Burns Supper

Every year, Scots and lovers of Scotland gather together to celebrate the birthday of their most famous national poet, Robert Burns. A smaller event than the ball, Burns Night is an evening of gourmet delight, even for those who don’t favour haggis. From addressing the haggis to toasting the lassies, the evening brightens up the darkest January night. A feature of the Burns’ Supper has been the varieties of whisky generously provided by our whisky sponsor. In the last three years guests have been treated to exclusive single malts -- Macallan 1864 replica, 30-year-old Famous Grouse Malt and Macallan 30 year old.

In 2009, the society was honoured by the guest appearance of Robert Burns himself (travelling under the guise of one Christopher Tait) who entertained guests with a selection of his poetry, including Tam O’Shanter. Guests also had the chance to try their feet at reeling before dancing the night away. In 2010 the Burns Supper will be held on 30th January at the Marriott Royal Aurora.
