"It is a kind of slightly out-of-control party which goes beyond a ho-ro-gheallaidh, but stops short of a stooshie." Ian Mitchell, Passport Magazine 2009
The Stramash is our family friendly garden party that takes place at the end of summer with a very different atmosphere from the Ball or Burns Supper.
Whilst the line up has varied from year to year, the 400 to 500 guests who attend enjoy an afternoon and evening programme that has always been packed with live bands, dancing, great food and drink. |

The music makes the day, and over the last six years of the Stramash has played host to many great bands. These range from the world famous Proclaimers (of 500-Mile fame), the highly talented Clachan Yell (a ceilidh band from Aberdeen) and Night Shift to local bands including Red River Trails, Dr Nick, Mail Order Bride, and Babette. We have also had been lucky enough to have some British based tribute bands come over to perform, including Southsidea (a Texas tribute band), Into the Bleach (a Blondie tribute act) and a Rod Stewart tribute act.
Apart from live music, we have had performances from dance troop Shady Glen, piping by a few local pipers, wine tastings, arm wrestling, quizzes, tombolas and children's games. Recently we have also tried to devote a small part of the day to allow the charities we support showcase their activities. |
