The St. Andrew's Night Ball is the highlight event of the year. Held at the beginning of winter, it has become one of the most enjoyable and well-attended events of the pre-Christmas season. In the past, the ball has raised a
maximum of $50,000 for charity. St. Andrew is the patron saint of both Scotland and Russia. His feast day, 30th November, is widely celebrated by Scots all over the world, indulging in traditional food, drink, music and dancing.
The 400 guests are entertained by traditional ceilidh bands, speakers and DJs, with the celebrations lasting long into the night. Raffle prizes have included air tickets to Scotland complemented by a VIP tour of The Famous Grouse Experience, golf, and grouse shooting, artwork by local charities, and Scottish Highland Dress to encourage the guests to raise over $15,000 for charities. In 2009, the St Andrew's Night Charity Ball will be held on Saturday, 5th December at the Holiday Inn Sokolniki, Moscow.
