Welcome to the website of the St. Andrew Society of Russia! The society exists for all who are interested in the activities of the Scottish expat community based in Moscow. As an informal group of volunteers, we organise a series of events throughout the year, with an aim to make a difference in the community in which we find ourselves -- in other words, charity.
Designed to celebrate traditionally Scottish occasions in a traditionally Scottish way, the St. Andrew's Night Ball and Burns Supper are great evenings of Scottish culture: haggis, dancing, whisky. The Stramash, meanwhile, is an excuse dust off the kilt for a summer's afternoon of fun, raising both the profile of both the society and the charities it aims to support.
I encourage you to read through the highlights of our activities and take an active interest in the Society.
Then let us pray that come it may
(as come it will for a' that)
That Sense and Worth, o'er a' the earth
Shall bear the gree an' a' that
For a' that an' a' that
It's coming yet for a' that
That man to man, the world o'er
Shall brithers be for a' that
Slainte!

A Little Light History
Founded in 1993, the St. Andrew Society of Russia is a social organisation for Scots and people with an interest or love of Scotland, living in Russia. The Society aims to raise money for Russian charities while celebrating traditionally Scottish festivals and holidays. The society organises a number of social events during the course of the year, including celebrations of Scotland's most important national holidays, St Andrew's Day and Robert Burns' Day.
The society is run by a committee responsible for organising events, fundraising activities, reviewing and selecting of charitable organisations and controlling the allocation of funds to approved charities. We are always looking for new faces to get involved in the helping organise events, so if you are interested, contact us!
